Hello, Mom

By Sarah Damm It is a bright, sunny fall day. I head into St. Paul to meet my spiritual director. I feel so blessed to have found a Catholic woman, who loves the Lord and who somehow “gets” me, to guide me in my spiritual journey. Her office is in an old mansion that the university purchased and renovated into offices and classrooms. Since... [Read more...]

All Good Gifts

By Melanie Rigney When it came to presents, my mother had this thing. She never got us what we wanted. Oh, she meant to, I’m certain. It was just that with taking care of four children, being the primary emotional support for her own mother, and being married to a guy who worked all sorts of hours as a postal clerk, getting our gifts just right... [Read more...]

A Sower Went to Sow

but some seed fell on rich soil

By Alyssa Bormes A sower went to sow. This line from today’s Gospel reminds me of a few things. Having grown up in the heartland, where farming was king, sowing is pivotal. The Gospel also reminds me of my recent visit to the Holy Land. We learned that it makes perfect sense that, like in... [Read more...]

Are You a Martha or a Mary?

By Lucy Johnson Growing up across the street from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marinette, WI, the church was literally the center of my life. It stood between my friends’ houses, my grade school, and our house. My mother was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and never hesitated to volunteer any of her six daughters when necessary. When I moved to St. Paul, MN as an adult and became a member of St. James Catholic Church, the first organization... [Read more...]

    The Roots of WINE

    * While WINE is a national ministry, it is beginning by taking root and growing in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Working in partnership with the Archdiocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, WINE will roll out in Archdiocesan parishes in the fall of 2015. We invite you to follow along, to join in with our online book club, to explore our website and to attend any WINE events. We also invite you to join us in prayer for this beautiful women’s ministry as we grow. It is our hope that women on fire for their faith will see the beautiful fruit of WINE and soon it will spread to all corners of the world.
