New WINE Wednesday ~ Death and Taxes

taxdayBy Alyssa Bormes

April 15th – the day when we realize there are only two certain things – death and taxes. Ah, yes, count me among the whiners when it comes to taxes!

But if I think back to the Easter Vigil, Father mentioned that it was the “super bowl” of Masses. Which made me think that we are on a winning streak. We are something like 2000-0, rather, our record is really 1-0! Jesus conquered death!

Then, you hear today’s Gospel with words like these: God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son…. That the world might be saved through him. …And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world…. Whoever lives the truth comes to the light….

It’s just too taxing to whine about taxes. I need to get busy rejoicing in the Victory!

I agree it’s too taxing to complain about taxes. Although, I don’t like how our government uses our taxes foolishly. I don’t like how our taxes are used to fund abortions, I say we ought to keep rallying for life and demand an end of taxpayer money to abortions.
