advent reflection ~ day 14
Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the Lord. Zechariah 2:14
In the opening scene of the movie The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews begins dancing and singing on a scenic mountaintop. Underneath the blue sky, her arms are outstretched to heaven. It’s as if joy has raptured her heart and she cannot contain herself.
When do you experience this kind of happiness?
I feel this way every time my sister Annie comes for a visit. Though she lives six hours away, we are as close as sisters can be. When she pulls into my driveway, we run to each other with arms open wide. Though we are both grown women, we often tap-dance on my front porch.
This Advent, imagine the Lord standing on your front porch. Let yourself sing and rejoice in his presence. He has come to dwell in your heart.
