advent reflection ~ day 19
But she was greatly troubled by what was said. ~Luke 1:29
It’s easy to understand why the greeting of an angel would trouble Mary. She was just a teenage girl. We can only imagine what went through her mind when Gabriel began talking to her. Full of grace? Me? I’m barely a woman…
But she had been chosen to bear the Son of God. Though young Mary was troubled, God bestowed upon her a great gift: courage.
Perhaps these Advent days find you wondering about God’s plan for your life. Maybe God is nudging you to a new job, a new role, or a new commitment. Maybe you are asking, as Mary did: “How can this be?”
If you are troubled by the Lord’s call, be at peace. Like Mary, you will receive the courage you need.
